By using story, poetry and music to create imaginative and creative spaces, I aim to inspire all to open the door on their innate ability to create.

THIS PLACE SPEAKS | PODCAST

The This Place Speaks | Podcast brings together voices, stories, and reflections shaped through creative writing and a deep connection to place.

Each episode emerges from immersive, place-based workshops, where participants are invited to explore local landscapes, uncover hidden stories, and express them through poetry and prose. These pieces are then recorded and shared—capturing the spirit of a place through the voices of those who know it, walk it, and feel it.

Blending storytelling, spoken word, and a sense of atmosphere, the podcast offers a space to listen, reflect, and reconnect—with ourselves, our communities, and the natural world that surrounds us.

EPISODE 4 | MAR 26 | PEEL TOWER | WOODBANK PRIMARY SCHOOL

Details

This project is aimed to inspire creativity and imagination whilst fostering connection to ourselves, our communities and the natural world within which we are all an integral part.

Through immersive creative writing workshops, focussed around a local landmark, participants are encouraged to open up to the stories all around them, learn to find them and capture them through poetry or prose. Their work is then recorded and collated into podcasts, books or both.

If you are interested in getting involved with this project please contact me now.

The project has got off to an amazing start with funding coming from Bury Art Museum and Culture Bury to allow me to head into four local primary schools to discover the stories in their midst.

The landmark that is the focus of this part of the project is Peel Tower and the children have come up with some wonderful poems and stories based around the monument.

This episode will showcase the work of the children in Year 6 at Woodbank Primary School.

This is the final episode of this initial phase of the project and I would like to thank all the children and staff who have been involved. It has been amazing!

So without further ado, grab a brew, sit back, relax and enjoy the show!

Now, I have to admit, Greenmount Primary School is a school very close to my heart. Having gone there as a child and watching all three of my own children grow through the school it has been wonderful to provide a project like this one for them!
