About The Book

This Place Speaks: Peel Tower 2026 brings together poetry and stories created by children in response to Peel Tower, Holcombe Hill, and the landscapes surrounding them.

Developed through a series of place-based creative writing workshops, the collection explores imagination, memory, weather, movement, listening, and connection to place through poetry, storytelling, and reflection.

Through observation, conversation, and shared experience, children were invited to slow down, notice the world around them, and respond creatively to the landscape they inhabit. The resulting collection captures a wide range of voices, perspectives, and imaginative journeys shaped by the hill, the tower, and the environment around them.

This publication forms part of the wider This Place Speaks project — a facilitated creative practice rooted in listening, reflection, and shared experience through place.

Alongside the written work, the project also includes podcasts, immersive audio experiences, and live sharing sessions connected to Peel Tower and Holcombe Hill.
